8th Kenton Scout Group - Our Story
We have been Scouting in Kenton for close to 80 years now, no small feats and only possible due to the amazing people that we have had involved with the group both past and present. Started in 1941, the Group first opened as a Sea Scout division, giving young people in the area a chance to get into the outdoors and out on the water.
Our Group Today
Today the Group is a strong as ever with an active membership of over 70 young people, a leadership team of 20 volunteers and an involved executive committee, dedicated in ensuring things run smoothly. The group actively participates in wider Scouting events from Stanmore District competitions to international camps and even sending 3 members to the World Scout Jamboree over the last 10 years. Young people are engagedĀ in a ever evolving programme with helps keeping Scouting relevant whilst also keeping traditional skills such as fire lighting and map reading alive.
Going to your Scout meetings is a chance to meet up with your mates, have a laugh and do lots of exciting activities. You’ll meet adventurous people just like you who want to do something a little different.
